Invited by ECAL Cinema Department, the Catalan director Albert Serra will present a Masterclass on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, moderated by Paolo Moretti, head of Bachelor and Master Cinema.
Born in Banyoles in 1975, Albert Serra is a Catalan director, visual artist and stage director.
He gained international recognition with his first feature film, Honor de Cavalleria, presented at the Quinzaine des Réalisateurs in Cannes in 2006, a free adaptation of Don Quijote performed by non-professional actors from his village.
In 2013, he received the Leopard d'Or at Locarno for his film Histoire de ma mort, inspired by the memoirs of Casanova. He presented in Official Selection at the Cannes Film Festival La mort de Louis XIV in 2016, Liberté in 2019 and Pacifiction in 2022.
