Hyperlab

In collaboration with the HYPEROUEST music festival, ECAL students were given the opportunity to design a visual installation in the room adjacent to the festival's ephemeral club, located on the Veillon wasteland in Crissier.

For this project, 1st-year students worked in groups, mixing Bachelors in Graphic Design, Media & Interaction Design and Photography. Their main objective was to create powerful and creative visual sequences around the central theme of "HYPER".

At the same time, second-year students in the Graphic Design option enriched this project by developing the exhibition's visual identity. These interdisciplinary collaborations stimulated exchanges and encouraged visual cohesion, connecting the different ideas and reinforcing the "laboratory" and experimental aspect of the project.

HYPER, the central subject of this mapping project, is a reflection on the uncertain future of the West Lausanne district. This concept, explored in all its dimensions, led to the creation of visuals in which the elements of abundance, movement and color were brought to their paroxysm.

The visual identity developed completes the overall project by producing the exhibition's communication and facilitating transitions between the various visual creations. The exhibition was open to the public in the evenings, alongside HYPER CLUB, over two consecutive weekends.

The installation consisted of ten synchronized projections. The sheer size of the space, covering a monumental area of 2'000 m², created an immersive experience for the public, all enveloped by the music of artist Alva Noto.

From April 27 to May 7, ECAL is taking part in Hyper Ouest festival, which will be held in the municipalities of western Lausanne. Bachelors Media & Interaction Design, Graphic Design and Photography students will present the Hyper Lab exhibition in the former Veillon halls. Opening: Thursday, April 27th.
